This program is intended to educate Mississippians about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling in their households to live more sustainably.

Target Audience(s):

General public, adults, and youth

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Increase overall awareness of the municipal waste stream and the waste management issues we face locally, nationally, and worldwide;
  • Increase knowledge on how to live more sustainably by reducing and reusing in our households;
  • Improve knowledge on how to properly recycle household materials such as plastics, paper, metals, etc.;
  • Increase knowledge of litter and the effects that it has on environments locally, nationally, and worldwide; and
  • Increase awareness that living more sustainably not only benefits the environment but can also improve household financial savings.
